Edmee Pardo

Edmée was born in Mexico City in 1965. She has a Ph.D. in Literature and is the author of 38 published titles. She runs reading and creative writing workshops, and is also a reading and cultural promoter, speaker and volunteer. Her work has been translated into English, Basque, Catalonian, Náhuatl, Mayan, Tzeltal and Mixteco.

Her published titles include: Oasis (Nieve de Chamoy, 2015) Letras para sanar (amati, 2012), La voz azul (Diana 2008 y 2015), Escribir cuento y novela: Caja de herramientas y cuaderno de trabajo (Paidós, 2005) Leer cuento y novela, guía para leer narrativa y dejar que los libros nos hagan felices (Paidós, 2004) Flor de un solo día, Minimalia erótica (Solar editores, 2002), Morir de amor (Nueva Imagen, 2002), Rondas de Cama y La madera de las cosas, invención varia y relatos (Cal y Arena, 1999), Espiral (Tava Editorial, 1994).

Her children’s and YA books focus on physical and social health issues. Her short story collection Leer para sanar (2016) earned a nomination for the National Arts Award. Her breast health trilogy El brasier de mamá (2013) has sold over half a million copies, while Enfermedad se escribe con C (2009) is part of the Spanish course reading in school districts across the USA. Los días de Lía (2017) has been included in the reading and writing courses for Escribir como Lectores. She earned the 2018 International Tomorrow’s Writers Award; the 2009 San Luis Potosí National Short Story Award for Encender el mundo; the 2004 International Narrative Award for Las plegarias de mi boca; and the 1999 Benemérito de las Américas Award for Luzagua.
