Born in 1976, América began her literary career in the World Wide Web, writing acid, sarcastic and extremely fun articles and commentary, which eventually landed her a place in the popular Animal Político portal, where she is the author of the literary column Pluma, lápiz y cicuta. She also wrote for Milenio newspaper for over 13 years, and has published collaborations on culture and Mexico’s health system for La Razón, Frente, Panorama Cultural (Colombia), Yaconic, La Mosca, Replicante and Etcétera, among others. Her first non fiction title, Pasajera en trance, was published by Editorial Mantarraya in 2019, followed by Juicio a la maternidad y otras catástrofes, and was included in the Pase usted and Blickwinkel: Momento future anthologies published by Mexico’s Goethe Institute.
