Joan Jado

Juan Ramón Jado Castilla (Barcelona, 1975) is a writer who completed the full narrative and short story program at the Escola d’Escriptura de l’Ateneu Barcelonès, where he studied for four years. His final course was mentored by the writer Pedro Zarraluki.

One of his stories was published in Iceberg (vol. 4, April 2020), although its release coincided with the pandemic, which limited its dissemination. During the lockdown, he continued honing his craft through several short story and horror writing workshops with Mariana Enríquez and María Fernanda Ampuero, both of whom reviewed and provided feedback on some of his work.

His book Something Must Be Done About the Dead (Algo habrá que hacer con los muertos) is a collection of 13 interlinked stories, connected by recurring characters and the themes of death and loneliness. In a fictional town where the living and the dead coexist and “co-die,” the boundaries between worlds become hauntingly blurred.
