Luis Miguel has a Ph. D. in Literature and is a nationally recognized creator that has been accepted into the National Endowment for Arts and Culture after being endorsed by writers and critics such as Gerardo Kleinburg, Marco Perilli, Julian Herbert, Guillermo Fadanelli and Edmée Pardo, among others.

He won the 2008 Juan José Arreola National Short Fiction Award for Colisiones; the 2012 Eduardo Yáñez National Short Fiction Award for Alain Prost; and the 2013 Gilberto Owen National Literature Award for Journeyman.
