María de Alva Levy

She is the author of the following fiction titles: Lo que guarda el río (2016), Antes del Olvido (2011), which was a runner-up for Spaíns 2009 Fernando Lara Novel Award, and A través de la ventana, runner-up in the 2009 Fernando Lara Award. She’s taught Literature at the Tecnológico de Monterrey for over 25 years, heading the Hispanic Literature Department from 2015-2020. She holds an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of California and an M.A. in Education from Tecnológico de Monterrey, as well as a Ph.D. from the same college. She currently leads the Tecnológico’s Reading Program. She is also a member of the Alfonso Reyes Chair Committee and the editorial director for the Campus Cultural magazine. She publishes frequently in media and academic journals on issues of memory, self fiction, body, sexuality, motherhood and illness.
