Pedro J. Saavedra
Art director, designer, photographer, videographer and travel aficionado, Pedro J. Saavedra was born in Sevilla, Spain, in 1976. He has worked in several projects relating to territory, wandering and spirituality, as well as physical spaces and the people inhabiting them. Tireless adventurer, explorer, romantic geographer and compulsive searcher, he was photographed the Ashura in Iran, the Zapatista rebels in Chiapas, the mysterious North Korean capital of Pyongyang, the Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank, the Hezbollah of Beirut, the isolated Albania, the dangerous Chorrillo neighborhood in Panama City, Trasnistria – the non-existent country -, the ghost town of Pripyat in Chernobyl, the de facto Independent Republic of Abkhazia in Georgia, Nagorno Karabakh, the pilgrimage of Arbaeen in Irak, the secret and frozen city of Norilsk, and the nomadic reindeer shepherds of Taymyr, among many places of this planet. His work on beauty and melancholy are the transversal axis of this projects, leading him to numerous and solo and collective exhibitions of his photos and documentaries, in both national and international arenas.
