Raúl Contreras

Raúl Contreras Álvarez. Guadalajara, Jalisco, 1978 is a dental surgeon who graduated from the University of Guadalajara, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Forensic Sciences. His short story “Fidel” was included in the book Winners of the Third Short Story Contest of the University of Guadalajara.
He has published three novels: El Arcano, El Asesino del Péndulo, and Nosotros; as well as three short story collections: Martín Toscano, Un cuento de Navidad, and La Martina, el señor Martínez, el boticario y la psiquiatra.
He was awarded grants by the State Council for Culture and the Arts, the Proyecta Producciones Grant from the Jalisco Ministry of Culture, and the Citizens’ Council for Art, Culture, Tradition and Historical Heritage of Jocotepec.
He ventured into documentary filmmaking as a screenwriter and director with El Santo Cristo de la Expiración. His work is included in both the Encyclopedia of Writers in Jalisco and the Encyclopedia of Writers in Mexico. Several of his texts have been published in Mexico and abroad.
